International applicant planning
International eligibility, clinical privileges, registration and visa sponsorship are different questions. A programme’s willingness to consider overseas applicants does not answer all of them.
Questions for the host
- Does my specialist qualification and training location satisfy your current requirements?
- Can I undertake clinical work, assist, perform procedures under supervision, or observe only?
- Which registration, examinations, language evidence and insurance are required?
- Which visa or work-authorisation route applies, and who handles the application?
- Is financial or visa sponsorship actually offered, or is institutional endorsement required from my home country?
Examples of different official pathways
- AAFPRS distinguishes the IMG route from the match route; individual directors decide programme acceptance.
- SGH PGMI publishes programme documents with registration and home-institution sponsorship requirements.
- Toho IPOP describes an observation-only programme and requires direct applications without intermediaries.
- KORL-HNS requires a host arrangement separately from the scholarship application.
These examples apply to their cited programmes only. Use each profile’s official sources and current host instructions.
What the directory records
Of 753 programme records, 151 state that international applicants are considered, 97 state conditions or restrictions, 35 state that they are not eligible under the recorded requirements, and 470 do not say. “Not confirmed” is not a refusal; it means the reviewed source was silent.
